Aircraft Incident: President Chakwera's Statement

The German Federal Bureau of Aircraft Investigation (BFU) has submitted its findings on the recent plane crash involving Vice President Saulos Klaus Chilima and eight others, but the report's failure to indicate the cause of the crash has only added to the growing skepticism surrounding the institution's credibility.

As previously reported, the BFU has faced numerous allegations of altered reports, corruption, and wrongdoing in the past.

Their history of controversies raises serious concerns about the integrity of their investigations, and the Chilima plane crash report is no exception.

The BFU’s inability to determine the cause of the crash, despite having access to all relevant data and evidence, is a glaring omission that has left many questioning their competence.

This lack of transparency and accountability is particularly troubling, given the high-profile nature of the incident and the public’s right to know.

Furthermore, the BFU’s track record of manipulating reports and downplaying critical factors in previous investigations has created a culture of distrust.

Their 2019 alteration of a report on a 2017 crash to downplay the role of air traffic control, and their 2005 alteration of a report on a 2002 crash to downplay pilot error, demonstrate a pattern of compromise and deceit.

In light of these controversies, it is essential to demand a more thorough and transparent investigation into the Chilima plane crash.

The Malawian government must take immediate action to address the concerns surrounding the BFU’s findings and ensure that the truth is revealed.

The government’s acceptance of the BFU’s inconclusive report without demanding further clarification or investigation is a dereliction of duty.

The families of the victims, the Malawian people, and the international community deserve better than a superficial and potentially compromised investigation.

The BFU’s failure to indicate the cause of the Chilima plane crash, combined with their history of controversies, raises serious concerns about the integrity of their investigation.

The Malawian government must take immediate action to address these concerns and ensure that justice is served.

Anything less would be a betrayal of the public’s trust.
