Former Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General Martha Chizuma has secured a new position at the World Bank in Washington D.C.
This news comes after Chizuma’s contract as ACB Director General was not renewed in March 2024.
According to a Facebook post by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Lilongwe, Ambassador Ingrid Marie Mikelsen hosted a farewell luncheon for Chizuma to commemorate her tenure and upcoming role.
The post reads: “We appreciate her unwavering commitment to the fight against corruption in Malawi and wish her every success in her new role at the World Bank in Washington”.
Chizuma’s appointment at the World Bank is a testament to her expertise and dedication to fighting corruption.
During her tenure as ACB Director General, she was instrumental in investigating and prosecuting high-profile corruption cases in Malawi.
The World Bank’s recruitment drive for Africa, which was announced in November 2021, aimed to attract top talent from across the continent to join its team.

She holds a Master of Laws in International Economic Law from the University of East London and a Bachelor of Laws with Honors from the University of Malawi, Chancellor College.
