(MaraviPost):The Head of State was picked for the Africa Education and Leadership Award for his ability to build consensus locally and abroad and his efforts to change policies for the better and supervise solutions that address Kenya’s pressing issues.
Thousands of university students from institutions of higher learning in Africa also recognized President Kenyatta for initiating progressive economic programmes aimed at uplifting the lives of Kenyans.
The students, who are members of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), presented President Kenyatta with the award, which, among other things, celebrates “outstanding leadership and educational excellence”.
The AASU is based in Accra, Ghana. President Kenyatta has used Social Media effectively to reach young people in Kenya and Africa. Many find his Facebook page very informative.
Kenyatta is a hero to many Africans for having stared down the ICC. An institution which started with good intentions but now is known in Africa as another colonial tool to put African leader’s inline.
On his Facebook page Kenyatta has over 1,600,000 million followers. He is seen as a common man. In one posting he wears a hard hat and driving a forklift, sharing a meal in the village for the common person. He is seen consoling GSU officers injured in an accident on Isiolo-Marsabit Road on Tuesday.
On international matters he has dedicated time to bringing peace in South Sudan. Hosting the leaders in Kenya so that they could talk to each other directly.
As the Maravi Post went to press, Uhuru and a Kenyan delegation is holding bilateral talks with President Edgar Lungu and his team aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries at State House Lusaka, Zambia.
No wonder he is admired by many young people in Africa.
