Hon. Naomi Kilekwa Phiri is a development-conscious Member of Parliament for Mulanje South East Constituency. She has been a vocal advocate for her constituents and has demonstrated strong leadership skills. Jones Gadama: Hon. Naomi, congratulations on your decision to stand for re-election. What makes you confident that you will win?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: Thank you, Jones. I’m confident because I’ve delivered on my promises and brought development to my constituency. I’ve also defeated my opponents in the past two elections, and I’m sure I can do it again.
Jones Gadama: You’ve faced opposition from some male aspirants. How do you handle the challenges they pose?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: I don’t worry about them. I’ve already proven myself in the past two elections, and I’m focused on issue-based campaigns.
Jones Gadama: Some people have been spreading negative rumors about you. How do you respond to these allegations?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: I’m pursuing legal action against those responsible. I believe in issue-based campaigns, not character assassination.
Jones Gadama: What are your top priorities for your constituency if you’re re-elected?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: Development is my top priority. I want to continue improving infrastructure, healthcare, and education in my constituency.
Jones Gadama: You’re standing on the DPP ticket. What do you think about President Peter Mutharika’s leadership?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: I fully support President Mutharika. He’s a leader who cares about the people, and I believe he’s the hope for our nation.
Jones Gadama: How do you plan to engage with your constituents during the campaign period?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: I’ll be engaging with my constituents through public meetings, door-to-door campaigns, and other outreach programs. I want to hear their concerns and share my vision with them.
Jones Gadama: What message do you have for your constituents about your candidacy?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: My message is simple: development and service. I’ve delivered on my promises in the past, and I’m committed to doing more for my constituency.
Jones Gadama: What are your final words to your constituents and the people of Malawi?
Hon. Naomi Phiri: I want to thank my constituents for their continued support. I believe in President Peter Mutharika’s leadership, and I urge everyone to vote for him in the upcoming elections. He’s the only hope for our nation. I also want to encourage people to vote for more women in these elections. We need more women in leadership positions to bring about positive change.
