DEDZA-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera and his counterpart Mozambican leader Daniel Francis Chapo on Friday, June 6, 2025 jointly commissioned the state of the art Dedza-Calomue One-Go Border Post.
The Dedza-Calomue One-Go Border Post, is a significant development for trade and travel between the peoples of Malawi and Mozambique.
It streamlines border crossing procedures by consolidating various agencies’ checks into one location, reducing delays and costs for cross-border traders and travelers.
This initiative aims to facilitate trade, promote economic growth, and enhance revenue collection for both countries.
Upon their arrival, the two leaders were first briefed about the facility before proceeding to unveil the plaque and cutting the ribbon, signifying the official opening of the post.
Both leaders were welcomed on arrival by several top Malawi and Mozambique officials that included Mozambique Ambassador to Malawi Alexander Manjati, Malawi Ambassador to Mozambique Wezzie Moyo, Secretary to the President and Cabinet (SPC) Colleen Zamba, Speaker of National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara, Minister of Trade and Industry Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, and Minister of Economy from the Republic of Mozambique Basilio Zefanias Muhate, among others.
After the facility launch, both leaders are to address the press at Kamuzu Palace before Chapo leaves for Mozambique.
