Atcheya School of politics does not stop to amaze me. Any scholar who went through the hands of the self-styled political engineer will, once in a while, pull up a surprise when you least expect it. Even Atcheya himself grins with envy when one of his own students’ scores past his unsuspecting opponents.
When you look at the recent ‘coup de tat’ of PP and its followers by maverick Khumbo Kachali you will understand what I mean.
Apparently, JB, wherever she is decides to play some smart politics over DPP thanks to the latter’s obsession with her that has left many of us admiring how amayi could play so smart to shake off the obsession.
For beginners, DPP is convinced beyond reasonable doubt, that amayi is the master minder of cashgate who must take the next flight home to respond to the allegations while making herself available to 24/7 surveillance by our intelligence top dog. Amayi being who she is, knows her health cannot withstand the wheelchair binding court appearances one Lutepo is going through should her health status betray her.
What she does in return is to call for a meeting in Xeno land to announce to her boys that she will not be coming home anytime soon and suggests to the entourage that visits her in RSA of his potential successor. Poor BJ and Sositeni are not handed the mantle. Obviously, BJ and Sositeni do the needful. Injured, they both take new directions.
But it was just a matter of time before the rightful heir to the throne comes up in the name of KK after waiting for dust to settle. Don’t mind the outbursts of Ibrahim Matola because the set-up has just made him a casualty too!
What this means is that DPP will certainly find itself chasing the shadow of KK and letting JB off the hook. The development rallies will now include KK on their menu while JB will get some breathing space. For a while, DPP strategists will take time off to analyze PP and what it may be up to.
But what should worry DPP most is the ability of northerners to fight a cause as one block if they are convinced. Hoping that Mzomera Ngwira and his team have done a good ground work. Currently, PP is courting northern region top dogs.
Because Ngwira may singlehandedly marry his rejuvenated PP to MCP. I know the cunning reverend as one who always wants to prove a point especially when he is not part of the team that is in the kitchen. He knows DPP will not welcome him into their fold courtesy of their closed door policy.
Meaning, if DPP continues ruling he will be in the cold with his PP. He has the blessing of Amayi to take KK and PP to MCP, the lesser evil. After all, to Amayi, it is better to have Dr Laz at plot number one than APM. The arrangement will mean PP will have on reserve running mate position which Masiteni cannot occupy but KK is willing to pick up.
Meanwhile, Amayi will continue maneuvering from without the country in absence of conspicuous interest since DPP is likely to play game in this wonderfully written script that is rolling before our eyes.
