The Ngoni Maseko of Ntcheu chieftaincy wrangle between the seating Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V, Willard Mswati Kanjedza Gomani and some loyal family members has landed into court after Mswati obtained an injunction restraining the rival camp from claiming the crown.

The development comes after a month Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development established a committee of some senior chiefs in the country to bring two parties to discussion in easing the tension.

According to court records, The Maravi Post sourced before Judge Maclean Kamwambe shows that Mswati sought court order stopping Titus Philip Gomani (first respondent) and Dingiswayo Gomani (second respondent) from holding themselves as if they are heads of the Maseko Ngoni.

The court thereafter set an interparty hearing which was slated on Friday, November 6, before Judge Kamwambe but according to Mswati’s lawyer, Chancy Gondwe, the hearing did not take place as the Judge was not available for the case and that the new date would be scheduled later this month.

“Let the parties concerned attend to the Judge Chambers on the day of the 6th day of November 2015 at 08:30 o’clock on the hearing of an application restraining the 1st respondent from appointing and approving the 2nd respondent as Paramount or caretaker Paramount Chief and from declaring that the Plaintiff/Applicant Willard Mswati Alex Kanjedza Gomani (V) is no longer Paramount Chief.

“For a further order restraining, the Respondents from demanding the Royal Bayethe Salutation and from holding themselves out as the heads of the Maseko Gomani Royal Family up until the hearing and determination of this action or till further order of the court.

“Take note that the affidavit of Willard Mswati Alex Kanjedza Gomani (Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V) shall be read in support of the application”, reads the civil cause 436 of 2015 summon signed by court registrar dated October 22, 2015 and served on respondent’s lawyer, Chagwamnjira & Co on October 26, 2015.

The Ngoni Maseko of Ntcheu on Saturday, September 12, 2015 resolved to remove the youthful Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani V, Willard Kanjedza Gomani from the chieftaincy as Paramount for despising royal members in a bid to bring sanity into the chieftaincy which has been long overdue since the death of Inkosi Ya Makosi Gomani IV.

The meeting’s minutes resolved that Mswati together with his aunt Rosemary Malinki who was regent be dethroned for despising the royal family members including Titus Philip Gomani. Therefore, Titus who is the senior Prince, declared Dingiswayo Samson Gomani as the caretaker Inkosi Ya Makosi until further notice. The caucus also empowered, Titus to take the leading role and have a final say in all activities of the chieftaincy.
