MZUZU (MaraviPost–The Lilongwe based soldiers, Kamuzu Barracks FC, have been given a back to back football lessons over the weekend in Malawi’s evergreen city of Mzuzu as after being reduced to size by their fellow soldiers—the Lions of Kaning;ina, Moyale Barracks FC on Saturday by beating them 3-1 also got the same whipping by the Green Intellectuals, Mzuzu University in a match which was played before a sizeable crowd at Mzuzu Stadium on Sunday.
Frastone Chisi put Mzuni ahead in the second minute of the game and the game ended 1-0 in the first half. Came second half, KB put a gallant fight to turn the tables around and their efforts paid 72 minutes into the second half when they leveled the scores.
The goal forced Mzuni FC, which lost to Mafco in their opening game of this years super league, to pull up their socks and utilize the home ground advantage and it was Henry Misinjo who got Mzuni back in the lead with a brilliant strike from edge of the 18 yard box.
In the injury time, Mzuni FC scored the cautioning goal through Zeliat Nkhoma, who capitalized on a blunder by KB goalie. The game ended 3-1 in favour of Mzuni FC.
One of the highlights of the game is when Mzuni FC introduced veteran striker Russell Mwafulirwa for Lackson Sangano. Mwafulirwa, owing to his vast experience, was recruited in the squad to guide the young boys and give them the much needed inspiration when the going gets tough.
After the game, Mzuni FC’s defender Suzgo Mwakasinga received a Man of the match award from Sulom representative Henry Banda.
