MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has considered Moyale Football Club and Mzuni Football Club to play their TNM Super League game at Mzuzu Stadium this Saturday even though their ban to play derby games at the stadium still stands.

According to SULOM’s General Secretary, Williams Banda, the decision is just temporary; considering that Mzuni FC will host Masters Security FC on Sunday at the same Stadium.

“Previously, we used to fix their games at Karonga Stadium, but this time it has pleased Super League of Malawi to allow the two teams to play at Mzuzu Stadium because Mzuni FC will host Masters Security FC on Sunday. So, it may not be easy for them to travel back from Karonga after a game on Saturday,” Banda said.

Commenting on the decision, the two teams have gratefully accepted the same; citing financial burdens the two teams have been going through whenever they face each at an away ground like Karonga Stadium.

In May last year, SULOM banned Moyale FC and Mzuni FC from playing their durby games at Mzuzu Stadium for two consecutive seasons following the post match clash between the teams, which saw some Mzuni FC supporters injured in the process

In addition to the ban, the two teams were fined MK1.5 Million each for bringing the game of football into disrepute.

Moyale FC is on position 8 from 36 games and it has 38 points.

Mzuni FC is currently fighting relegation from the Super League. So far, it has played 27 games and it is on position 14 with 23 points.
