For a decade now since the adoption of multiparty system of government, Malawi has been going into general elections that has had been marred with plethora of irregularities which downgrade the credibility of elections.
For about fifteen years where Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has been in power after the founder of this party the late Bingu Wa Mutharika branched off from United Democratic Front (UDF), a party which ushered him in power, this party has been playing silly mind games in a quest to cover up its rigging schemes.
This far, many Malawians have living testimonies that DPP has been getting into power through dubious means orchestrated by mind games the party plays to let Malawians believe that they really win presidential election.
By giving a very realistic example, during the last year’s nullified presidential election campaign, Chakwera and Chilima conducted very successful campaigns and traveled almost in all corners of this country unlike Mutharika who only conducted less than five rallies due to his deteriorated health status.
But his mafias had been going around on different media with their mind games which moved people’s attention from real election monitoring issues to something that had no impact in the counterattacking of votes rigging DPP had been advancing.
As the days were approaching towards the voting day, news of Peter Mutharika’s sickness was all over to the extent that he only spoke for less than four minutes in Salima and Mangochi turn of when he was traveling from Lilongwe to Blantyre, was that not a mind game of just putting the opposition at ease?
Do you remember the issue of Maya Nkoloma who was all over the social media that he assisted in changing figures in favor of Dpp after successfully hacking the Malawi Electoral Commissioner’s servers? Do you think that was indeed true?
Alas! Very fake, stupid and decomposed mind games since the fact is/was that DPP connived with some cadets masquerading as MEC data entry clerks to be punching wrong figures into the Results Management System (RMS) that had positive effect to DPP and negative effects to opposition parties.
Just to take you abit back in 2014, do you remember what had been posted by a DPP agent who was going by the name Innocent Mawayawaya on Facebook?
This account had been writing different stuff regarding People’s Party (PP) plans to rig the 2014 election yet this account was just being used by DPP in playing its mind games that could left people from following their real rigging plans since people’s attention was basically diverted to PP issues.
This is 2020 and we are heading towards another historical presidential election and DPP is back with its mind games meant to trigger people’s attention like the dishing of money to all DPP and UDF gurus to buy monitors in our poling stations so that they change results to their favour, Oky! mind games at play.
Monday of 15th June, 2020 they released a campaign program that shows like they are to go out campaigning for Mutharika who by this date has never conducted any campaign rally that can much of those Chakwera and Chilima are having, and this is surely a mind game done to just cover up something about rigging which thy are planning to execute.
Once Malawians may take a close look of DPP’s mid games, we can surely connect with what Peter Mutharika has been saying that they already won this coming election.
But my question which is similar to most Malawians can be of how will Malawians vote for someone who is firstly above 80 years of age, has questionable health status that may lead to incapacitation, has messed up a lot of things in this country, has a very bad reputation both locally and internationally due to his attacks on judicially and human rights, has not campaigned as compared to Chakwera and his troops and most importantly he is someone even kids have lost their trust in him?
Malawians! The time to end this stupidity of playing us mind games with an emphasis of advancing their rigging plans is now here and this can end by being vigilant in all aspects of election monitoring.
This robust election monitoring should leave no any stage from distribution of electoral materials, inspections of electoral materials, voting process, ballot counting, data management systems, election results transferring from polling Stations to district tally centres and to national tally centre as well as to where the district results will be punched into the Results Management System at MEC’s main tally centre.
The opposition especially the tonse alliance partners should sacrifice themselves to provide this needful monitoring in all these stages and must have conditioned vehicles which will be tracing the movement of any vehicle that will be carrying election results from polling stations to national tally centre and one or two monitor(s) must always be in that vehicle which will be carrying election results and others following them with duplicates of those signed result sheets in case District Commissioners may want to tamper with the results.
Quoting what Dr Chakwera once said in Parliament, “It’s easier to boot Dpp out of government than booting thieves who are ransacking our public funds” i surely agree with him that once DPP is booted out, it will be easy for the Chakwera-Chilima new government to boot out all thieves masquerading as public or civil servants who are putting this country on fire with their lack of humility and love for money.
Once DPP is marked left and right, their mind games won’t work and their rigging plans will always be known to everyone.
This coming election is indeed for us all to press a reboot button that will make our country to start ticking again and be a better and prosperous Malawi for all of us.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, let us all go in our large numbers to vote for Chakwera and Chilima presidency to end DPP’s legacy theft, corruption, tribalism, low development standards, Constitutional rape as well as shaming of our leaned judges in the judicially arm of government.
