According to MBC, The July 6 Independence Day Celebrations at Bingu National Stadium have been Cancelled.

Addressing the Nation at 5pm Sunday in Lilongwe the president said he arrived at that decision to avoid further spread of the disease as people travel from one place to the other.

” I urge those planning to travel to the celebrations to cancel their travel plans accordingly, ” said Chakwera.

“We are all at risk of this corona virus. It also includes me and state vice president that means we have to take this seriously.”

He told journalists that by cancelling the celebrations, the gain is much more than the country can lose now.
