African Development Bank response to COVID-19 in Zimbabwe

1 Min Read

In southern Africa, the onset of COVID-19 pandemic stressed an already fragile Zimbabwean economy.

Following a government request, the African Development Bank disbursed a $13.7 million grant from its COVID-19 Rapid Response Facility to support Zimbabwe response to the outbreak. Using the funds provided, the Ministry of Health and Childcare will support training for lab technicians and medical staff on best case management and prevention practices.

Support to the country has also increased the safety of frontline healthcare workers and improved access to safe handwashing facilities in the Zimbabwe’s most populated districts.
