Malawi Defence Force new recruitment not a scam

MDF Commander Vincent Nundwe

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The yet to be conducted Malawi Defence Force (MDF) interviews for new recruits will be done in accordance to law, this publication has learnt.

The MDF is scheduled to recruit new soldiers starting on 15th to 24 February, across the country.

But the move has been politicized that the recruitment is meant to scout Malawi Congress Party (MCP) youths, the main partner in Tonse administration.

In social media circulation this week alleges that MDF Commander Vincent Nundwe is set to put the army into disrepute following his political mechanizations where he is reported to have given special preference to a list of MCP Youths in the system.

“Apart from the MCP Youths, also appearing on the list are dependents of senior army officers despite some of them not being qualified. Names of those appearing on the list were not included on the initial list of names that were shortlisted and appeared in the newspapers some few weeks ago.

“UTM has been left out with some names that came from their camp crossed out since the system is fearing that they are mostly DPP sympathisers who won’t have their loyalty towards Chakwera,” reads part of the circulation in our possession.

But one of the MDF senior member who did not want to be named says such allegation could not stand in Nundwe’s leadership.

He observed that Nundwe is a straight forward person on work who rarely takes bribes or sides when executing his duties.

“These are opposition Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) cadets plans to politicise the army. General Nundwe remains professional commander in our times,” lauds the MDF senior officer.

When contacted MDF Spokesperson Paul Chimphwanya on the circulation, he declined to comment saying “I don’t comment anything on social media. So, treat is as you wish”.

Nundwe was re-called from retirement to serve President Chakwera Tonse administration.
