
LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) church leader Prophet Shepherd Bushiri on Thursday night, February 18, 2021 appealed for togetherness amongst men of God in fight against Covid-19 spike.
Prophet Bushiri emphasised the need for church leaders in the country to come together is mobilising resources to help those affected with Covid-19
The ECG leaders was speaking after the sidelines of Inter-Christian Faith Prayers for Malawi at its main studios in the capital Lilongwe.
“Sickness does not select which church to attack. Let’s leave aside church doctrines, affiliations and come together as men of God with resources in helping those affected by Covid-19. The pandemic has not spared any church across the global including Malawi.
“We can pray, yes, but faith without good works is nothing. Therefore, together with my fellow men of God, we are to roll out charity work towards helping affected with the pandemic,” says Prophet Bushiri.
Bishop Gilford Matonga, a senior pastor of Lilongwe Pentecostal Church however challenged the church to speak out against corruption involving Covid-19 funds, stigmatization against people infected and affected by the pandemic as well as rise up and help to contribute materially and financially towards those in need.
Matonga pointed out that the church should not remain silent but rise to the occasion.
In his contribution, Reverend Malani Mtonga of Word of Life Tabernacle Church assured the nation that God was is still in control despite the affliction.

Mtonga cited a few Covid-19 cases and deaths registered as compared to other countries, ” This shows that God truly loves Malawi”.
“People are being stigmatised. Men of God and churches need to mobilize resources to support affected. There should be social-psychological towards those affected with Covid-19”.
Prophet Bushiri therefore announced that the Inter-Christian faith prayers will be held every Thursdays weekly coupled with charity works across the country towards Covid-19 fight.
The Inter-Christian faith prayers was beamed live on local Television Channels and zoom.
