MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Gotan hit maker Victor Nkhambule well known by his stage name Illbest has disclosed that Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) has made the road to musical fame in Malawi more rough compared to pre-Covid Era.

In an interview, Nkhambule said without music shows that have a large audience, it is so hard to gain more fame.

He said: “We artists showcase our talent to people at music shows mostly, now it is so tough to gain more fame as an artist since there are very few music shows that only have a limited number of audience to 100.”

When asked on how he is coping up with the situation, he said modern music distribution is the way out.

“I try my best to release good music that suits all ages by composing messages that are good for the young and aged audience, I also go live on Facebook making live studio performances to have my fans entertained and I make online music distribution.” He said.

Nkhambule has since argued his fans and Malawians at large to mask up and stay safe from covid-19.

“Let us mask up, we need to see you again at music shows when life gets back to normal. Stay home and be safe from covid-19 because it is real.” He said.

Nkhambule further said he has more music projects for his fans to enjoy in this year.

“I have more music projects this year, I will feature more fine artists and fans should expect more fire works.” He said.

Currently the accepted number of audience in an open space event is 250 while 100 for a covered space event.

According to ministry of health, as of April 28, Malawi has registered five new cases, 19 new recoveries and no new death. All new cases are locally transmitted two each from Blantyre and Lilongwe and one from Balaka districts.

Cumulatively, Malawi has recorded 34, 052 cases including 1,147 deaths.
