LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Airtel Malawi is gearing up for an exciting year ahead, following the success of a one-day golf tournament held at Lilongwe Golf Club on Saturday, October 14, 2023, which saw a remarkable turnout of 180 golfers.
Charles Kamoto, the Company’s Managing Director, expressed their motivation after the exceptional tournament.
“The turnout and participation on this day were exceptional. It’s been six years since our last tournament, and having 180 golfers join us this time is a significant achievement,” said Kamoto.
Despite the scorching heat wave, the tournament was well-received, with enthusiastic golfers turning out in large numbers.
Kamoto further added, “The response we’ve received is truly motivating, and it encourages us to plan for next year.”
In the tournament, Kondwani Kachika emerged as the overall winner, securing a brand-new golf trolley from the sponsors and an MK100,000 Into-Sport voucher with his 87 gross and 68 net scores.
In the ladies’ category, Chaona Kumbani claimed victory with a gross of 100 and a net of 68, earning herself a golf bag and trolley.
Kachika, who celebrated his first tournament victory in his ten-year career, expressed his elation and determination to continue improving.
“Winning this prestigious golf tournament in Malawi is a fantastic feeling. Airtel’s return has indeed brought joy to the golfing community,” said Kachika.
The network service provider invested over MK30 million in the tournament and also donated MK1 million to the Lilongwe Golf Club during the prize presentation, acknowledging the tournament’s well-received patronage.
