Mother’s Day outing claims eight women lives in NkhataBay

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-About eight women have died after a vehicle they were travelling in plunged into a river around Chintheche in Nkhata Bay

The women were returning to Dwangwa in Nkhotakota after a Mother’s Day out at the lake when the driver of the minibus failed to negotiate a bend at Kapeska river.

Nkhata-Bay police spokesperson, Kondwani James, says police are on the scene trying to rescue women stuck inside the minibus.

James said some of the injured have been referred to Chintheche Rural and some to the district hospitals.

In-Charge for Chintheche Rural Hospital, Greyson Kumwenda, says they have received eight bodies.
