BLANTYRE (MaraPost)—Courtesy of mobile service operator Airtel Malawi, the country’s top musicians including Piksy, Lucius Banda and man of the moment, Skeffa Chimota have produced a song dubbed ‘Mwezi Wawala (Tithyole Dansi)’ which will be released on the New Year’s Eve, December 31.
Mwezi Wawala is a musical anthem comprising over 20 of the country’s top musicians.
The song, produced by renowned Blantyre based producer, Tapps Bandawe, also features urban artists Blasto and Tigris, Black Missionaries Band’s lead vocalist Anjiru Fumulani and gospel musician Faith Mussa, among others.
Speaking to journalists in Blantyre, Airtel Malawi’s Brands and Communications Manager Isabel Kachinjika said ‘Mwezi Wawala’ is a celebration of the Airtel brand and embraces the values of the brand.
“As a brand, Airtel’s vision is to enrich lives by helping our customers achieve their dreams. Through our network we also want to enable our customers to be themselves, and express themselves freely in order to explore their full potential regardless of their race, beliefs or geographical boundaries,” stated Kachinjika.
“Through this song we believe Malawians will feel the heartbeat of the Airtel brand and come to understand what we are all about,” said Kachinjika adding; “ This is also something that has never been done before in Malawi; bringing together the best of the best to compose a song that will touch many lives”.
Apart from creating unparalleled entertainment, according to Kachinjika, the song will also touch the lives of less fortunate people in the country and the proceeds from this song would be channeled to different causes so that those who don’t have a reason to smile can now celebrate because “Mwezi Wawala”
