MZUZU (MaraviPost)–TNM Super League rookies Mzuni FC which is fondly known as the Green Intellectuals has filed a complaint to the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) submitting to the Sulom secretariat that Big Bullets abducted their player Niyikiza Aimable—a Burundian by nationality.
In the letter which we have seen, Mzuni FC Chair Albert Mtungambera Harawa said Mzuni FC as a club participating in the super league is “stunned at the recent continued provocation of one of the oldest clubs in the country, Big Bullets FC.”
“We cannot comprehend why Big Bullets FC would entice our player, Aimable Niyikiza, to travel to Blantyre for trials and start featuring him in games without the consent of Mzuni FC.
“Article 10, Sections (a), (b), (c), (d), and (f) of the Revised Rules and Regulations clearly explains steps to be taken when handling transfer of players from one club to another,” said Harawa adding that “Big Bullets FC have refused to let the player come back to Mzuzu to consider their request of player transfer.”
Harawa described the behavior of Big Bullets FC as “abduction and continued illegal featuring of Aimable Niyikiza.”
“As a club, we have done everything possible to amicably resolve the issue but our counterparts seem to pay a deaf ear to our plea (See document X).
“When Mr Kelvin Moyo, the deputy General Secretary of Big Bullets approached Mr Vyson Jedegwa, the team manager of Mzuni FC, the agreement was that Big Bullets FC should wait until Mzuni FC speaks to the player in question.”
Harawa added:
“When I met Mr Moyo at Chiwembe for Club Licensing meeting, we agreed that Big Bullets would release the player on Monday, but up to this day, the player is still in their camp.
“While I was discussing the player’s transfer issue, the same player was playing for Big Bullets FC in a bonanza in Lilongwe. It is no longer a secret that the same Big Bullets FC had already started featuring the player even before he was cleared.
“We have several reasons to suspect that the player was not in Blantyre to cheer his sick sister. We also know that the player was forced to write a resignation letter (see document A).” submitted Harawa in the statement before asking Sulom to intervene in the feud concluding “we cannot accept a club to snatch players from other clubs with such impunity.”
When news on the social media broke on Aimable’s (Burundian) blatant disregard of the laws governing sports in Malawi; social media sports commentators were quick to identify Big Bullets Coach, Nsazwurimo Ramadan, a Burundian himself who at some point was arrested by the Malawi Police for not having work permit in this country—as the one behind enticing the player to do things with impunity as if Malawi is a quasi-failed state just like the Pierre Nkurunzinza undemocratically governed Burundi.
“Much as Ramadan was given job by FAM as flames assistant Coach, he should respect our laws. This alleged behavior of encouraging his fellow Burundian to act with impunity as if this is a quasi failed state like Burundi won’t be tolerated.
“SULOM must show its professionalism by quickly settling the matter once and for all,” one commentator who opted for anonymity was quoted.
Ramadan is yet to respond to the serious allegation leveled against him.
