Bullets are 2022 FDH Bank Cup Champions

LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Nyasa Big Bullets FC have won the prestigious MK90 million FDH Bank Pachema cup for 2022 after defeating their feeder side Bullets Reserve 3-1 at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.

The Senior team scored through the free scoring Nigerian international Adepoju Babatunde at 13th minute,his fourth goal of the cup.

Reserve equalized in the dying minutes of the first half through Happy Mphepo.At half time it was level 1-1.

In the second half Calisto Pasuwa’s boys made sure they are not shamed by their young brothers who had equal potential of grabbing the championship as they demonstrated the same in preliminary rounds, knocking out Red Lions, Blue Eagles FC and Mighty Tigers; the TNM Super League giants.

Hence scored early goals in the second half through Chimwemwe Idana at 67th minute,77th minute through in form striker, Anthony Mfune.

This was the first FDH Bank Cup Championship for the peoples team after failing to win it in its maiden year 2021 which Silver Strikers FC won after defeating Ekwendeni Hammers FC at the Bingu National Stadium.

The final however brought the memories of 2014 when Nyasa Big Bullets FC played lower league side Zomba United FC in Carlsberg Cup.Nyasa Big Bullets FC won 2-0.

Enos Chatama said they dominated the play in the first half but lost the hype in the second half as they conceded an easy goal.

He therefore hailed his boys for showing lions heart against their seniors.

“Let me congratulate our seniors for the victory today,We accept the defeat we planned for something but the outcome has been different”, Chatama said.

His counterpart Peter Mponda, assistant Coach Bullets FC, said it was a good game though failed to suit their feeder team in the first half as they conceded in the dying minutes of the half.

Mponda hailed Chatama and the whole reserve side for giving them a good run for the FDH Bank money.

Midfielder Frank Willard was later voted man of the match while Babatunde Adepoju finished as 2022 FDH Bank Cup Pachema top goal scorer with four goals.

Minister of Youth and Sports Richard Chimwendo Banda congratulated the two teams for beautiful display.

Chimwendo took advantage of the FDH Bank final to appeal to the bank to come and Ignite the African Dream by supporting the games slated for December in the capital, Lilongwe.

FDH Bank Cup Managing Director, Noel Mkulichi said the competition has been run professionally and that the final produced some fireworks with the Bullets Reserve showing some resilience.

Mkulichi added experience helped Nyasa Big Bullets FC to win the match and promised to continue sponsoring the cup in the country.

Nyasa Big Bullets FC will get MK25 million for being the champions while Nyasa Big Bullets Reserve FC will take home money amounting to MK8 million.
