LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Lazarus Chakwera has praised traditional leaders in Nkhotakota for their wisdom and honesty in guiding their communities toward improved livelihoods.

Speaking during a whistle-stop tour at Liwaladzi Trading Centre in Senior Chief Kanyenda’s area, President Chakwera commended the chiefs for providing knowledgeable leadership that benefits their people.

He revealed that his administration is still repaying loans taken by the previous government for the rehabilitation of the M5 Lakeshore Road—loans that were secured in the name of the project but never used to carry it out.

The President said his leadership is on the verge of producing visible results that will benefit all Malawians.

He urged citizens not to change leadership but to grant his government a fresh mandate to fully execute the plans it has for the nation.

Chakwera further pledged that water challenges in Nkhotakota would soon be a thing of the past.

He assured residents that his government has concrete plans to provide safe, clean drinking water that will flow directly into their taps.

In his remarks, aspiring Malawi Congress Party Member of Parliament for Nkhotakota Liwaladzi Constituency, Overstone Kondowe, described the M5 road as a death trap.

Kondowe thanked President Chakwera for taking action on his promises to rehabilitate the road.

He also expressed gratitude for the relief maize distributed to households in the area, aimed at addressing food shortages caused by last season’s poor harvests.

The visit was part of President Chakwera’s wider engagement with communities to showcase progress, outline future plans, and rally support ahead of the next elections.
