LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-As the country clocked 59th years of independence, President Lazarus Chakwera Tonse Alliance government is expected to spend MK320 milion for this year’s cerebration which falls on July 6 every year.
Minister of local government, Chimwendo Banda disclosed this on Thursday, July 29, 2023 at a press conference in the capital Lilongwe.
Chimwendo justified the budget saying the nation has missed many celebrations in the past.
He disclosed that the cerebration will be done in two phases with national prayers on July 5 followed by the cerebration on July 6 at Bingu stadium where Big bullets will play with Yanga football club from Tanzania with several cultural dances, displays, competitions to spice up event.
Chimwendo added that the event will bring together all former heads of states, former speaker of Parliament and all Malawians at one place.
This year’s cerebration is under the theme, “Renewed unity and patriotism for our country”
