1 Min Read

LUSAKA-(MaraviPost)-The Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) has announced that it will resume court proceedings against Tasila Lungu once the national mourning period has concluded.

Tasila Lungu, daughter of the late former Zambian president Edgar Lungu has been facing legal action in connection with matters currently before the courts.

According to the DEC, the temporary pause in proceedings is a mark of respect for the period of mourning following the passing of her father.

The Commission emphasized that the decision does not signal the end of the case but is simply a postponement to allow space for the family to grieve.

Once the mourning period is over, court dates will be set, and the legal process will continue in accordance with the law.

The announcement comes amid heightened public attention on the Lungu family, with both political and legal issues drawing widespread media coverage.

By pausing the proceedings, the DEC aims to strike a balance between the pursuit of justice and the observance of cultural and societal respect during a time of loss.
