Noel Lipipa sued for defamation

BLANTYRE-(Maravipost)—Former deputy minister of agriculture Chimwemwe Chipungu has filed a lawsuit against a fellow Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Member of Parliament Noel Lipipa for defamation and character assassination.

According to the documents accessed by the MaraviPost, it is revealed that Lipipa accused the petitioner of misappropriating Monitor’s funds for the last election held on 23rd June 2020 in  a WhatsApp group of DPP MPs.

Chipungu, who is also the Organising Secretary for the former ruling party, was in charge of distributing funds in the central and southern region for the monitors.

MaraviPost is reliable informed that the monitors, 8 in total, were not paid though former President Peter Mutharika confirmed at the DPP MPs meeting that he disbursed  the funds to the organizing secretary, a development which irked all the lawmakers.
