LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Global Health Corps (GHC) on Tuesday, December 6, 2022 announced recruitment application to young men and women to the 2023 paid 13-month fellowship with
placements in nonprofit and government health organizations in Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda,
and Zambia.
The initiative aims at injecting young leaders into the health field to fill capacity gaps at high-impact health organizations.
This coming year intake applications opened from December 1, 2022 to January 11, 2023 in position including at African Institute for Development Policy (Monitoring & Evaluation Officer and Data Analyst), AMREF Health Africa (Business Development Officer and Monitoring & Evaluation Officer), Ministry of Health (Quality Management Officer – M&E, Quality Improvement Officer, Resource Mobilization Officer and eHealth Officer).
While 2022-2023 Fellow is looking for placement Organizations and Roles including Partners In Health/Abwenzi Pa Za Umoyo (IT Specialist and Informatics Specialist), R4H (Communications Officer and Business Development Officer).
Global Health Corps, Country Director Simon Simkoko told the news conference on Tuesday that upon completing the 13-month fellowship, fellows transition to GHC’s alumni community.
He said that to fill capacity gaps on a range of health issues, fellows participate in bespoke leadership training and community building activities.
Simkoko added that the vast majority continue to work in global health and social justice — retention for GHC alumni is twice the rate of their peers.
“GHC is changing the who of health leadership by recruiting and training more women, Africans, and people with non-clinical expertise who have long been underrepresented in decision making.
“GHC is also changing the how of health leadership, cultivating critical traits for meeting today’s challenges including intersectional systems thinking, design thinking, empathy, humility, resilience, and
adaptability,” lauds Simkoko.
He added, “GHC’s tight-knit network of alumni work at 240+ organizations across more than 45 countries, with 95 percent retained in the health and social impact field. A growing number are now in management positions where they are charged with making key decisions that directly impact health outcomes.
“GHC fosters their leadership development through a robust and growing suite of programs including
coaching, mentorship, training, and access to resources, networks, and opportunities. As GHC leaders continue to gain influence and mobilize others outside the GHC community, their impact
generates a ripple effect across health ecosystems”.
Ruth Ntombihle Mughogho one of 2021-2022 GHC fellow at ArtGlo in Malawi lauded the program for gained wisdom and confidence to tackle these challenges and ascend to a new level
Hanif Munthali, 2020-2021 Fellow at Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation in Malawi echoes on the same, “Those who attended will feel empowered and equipped to bring positive change to their workplaces and communities.”
