1 Min Read

BLANTYRE, Malawi (MaraviPost) The Flames of Malawi Saturday collected full three points after beating the Eagles of Mali 2-0 in a Group B game played at home at Kamuzu Stadium in the commercial capital, Blantyre.

The first half ended goalless but Robert Ng’ame, who plays for Platinum Stars of South Africa, opened the score-line with a goal in the 19-miute of the second half. Veteran international Esau Kanyenda, who also plies his trade with Polokwane City of South Africa, sealed the game with a 39th-minute of the second half.

This means Malawi equal with Mali at six points each.

Malawi must win its next Wednesday game against Ethiopia in Addis Ababa to augment its chances to participate in the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea.

Mali also meets Algeria in Bamako. Algeria has already qualified.-maravipost
