BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-The United Transformation Movement (UTM) President Dalitso Kabambe has urged Malawians to vote for his party’s candidates at all levels of government in the upcoming September 16 general elections.

Speaking at certificates presentation ceremony for UTM parliamentary and local government candidates in the Northern Region on Friday, Kabambe outlined the party’s vision for national transformation and inclusive development.

“Our goal is to secure at least 100 seats in the National Assembly and it is possible. We must not only vote for the UTM presidential candidate but also for our councillors and members of parliament.

“For our manifesto to be effectively implemented, we need our people in these positions. They understand our mission, they share our values. UTM runs in their blood, which makes implementation straightforward,” he said.

Kabambe reiterated UTM’s commitment to decentralization and local development, announcing a pledge to allocate MK100 billion annually to local councils.

The former Reserve Bank of Malawi (RBM ) Governor underscored the importance of electing trustworthy representatives capable of delivering real change.

“Some may see this money as an opportunity for personal gain, to enrich themselves or live extravagantly. But only UTM councillors and MPs will view it as a tool for genuine development. They are part of this revolution and understand its purpose,” said Kabambe.

The UTM leader expressed deep appreciation to the Northern Region for its steadfast support since the party’s inception.

“You have shown unwavering love for UTM since day one.In 2019, the Northern Region gave us a significant number of votes. This time, let us aim higher and 99.9% of the votes must go to UTM,” he said.

Looking to the future, Kabambe promised visible results within five years of UTM leadership.

“One day, we’ll gather here to count the achievements brought by this revolution.Five years is enough for us to transform Malawi. We know what needs to be done. We know which buttons to press,” he said.

The renowned economist concluded his address with a powerful call to action for his candidates and supporters:

“I am here to serve you. I am not here to disappoint you. I am here for a better, more progressive Malawi. To our councillors and MPs go and work extra hard.We have a nation to save from the jaws of mafias. We have a nation to serve,” he said.
