LILONGWE, April 16, 2016, (MaraviPost): A Malawi gospel musician turn policeman Kambani Golden Katenje has revealed that his second album title ‘Adzatimenyera nkhondo Volume 2’ is nearly ready for release next month.
He disclosed this in an interview with the Maravipost on Saturday in Karonga the northern border part of Malawi where he is working in the 10 track album at Drum Sound Studio apart from his duty of restoring peace and order in the district.
According to Katenje, this latest project is a step high from the 2013 ‘Mutendere volume 1’ album that he releases in Mzimba district which was well sold.
“I have now finalized all my recordings and mixing of the new album called ‘Adzatimenyera nkhondo Volume 2’ at the Drum Sound Studio in Karonga where I am working as a Police officer,” said Katenje.
“I really took time on this project and it has been a lot of work. Its messages and artistically, it will change the lives of Malawians apart from entertaining them,” Katenje revealed.
He added that “mostly, the album carries the message of hope to those who are in predicament and it is wholly inspired by the word of God.”
Katenje assured his funs that his new material will be ready in May, 2016. He however appealed for the well-wishers to assist him financially in releasing the DVD which will consist of both albums.
Katenje music is termed advanced in afro contemporary (Adfroc). It is the fusion of afro pop, afro jazz as well as Malawian beats.
Born in 1978 in a family of 8 in T.A Kalolo in Lilongwe, Katenje’s passion for music started while he was still young in Balaka district after being inspired by the Alleluya Band which is owned by Paul Banda.
In 2004 while 24 years, he met with his 5 colleagues in Blantyre where they formulate a group known as the Young Heritage before joining the Malawi Police Service and his 2013 album.
