Malawi Congress Party (MCP) councilor for Nalikule ward in Lilongwe north east constituency Patricia Nkhondo is alleged to have stolen 140 bags of maize meant for humanitarian support in her area.
According to our reliable source, the maize is being distributed by the World Food Program (WFP) and government.
The source indicates that the councilor admitted to have stolen the maize when questioned by the Area Development Committee (ADC).
“She confessed that she diverted the said bags of maize but no one knows how the councilor managed to carry it,” said our source.
It is said that Nkhondo assured the ADC that she will pay back the said bags of maize after the 2017 harvest.
The ADC failed to issue a judgement on the matter and has agreed to meet with the concern councilor on another day.
However, effort to talk to councilor Nkhondo proved futile.
