LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-President Arthur Peter Mutharika and First Lady Gertrude Mutharika have expressed sadness over the death of distinguished academic and iconic writer Jack Mapanje.
In a statement, the President said Mapanje will be remembered not only for his literary contributions that entertained and educated Malawians, “but also for his courage in challenging the status quo at a time when holding those in authority accountable was perilous”.
The First Couple has urged Malawians to emulate Mapanje’s patriotic commitment to fighting for a just and prosperous Malawi.
They have also extended their condolences to the bereaved family and friends.
