Karonga council chair Patrick Kishombe plans to warn workers on punctuality

KARONGA, 12 June 2016, (MaraviPost): The chairperson for Karonga district council, councilor Patrick Kishombe, has disclosed his plan of summoning council employees this week especially on their behavior of coming late and early knocking off to duties.

According to Kishombe, the development follows the complaints lodged by the district human resource committee last week.

He said the development is crippling the council services apart from violating the local government act.

“I have planned to meet with the council staff especially the indirect employees because of showing up late to their respective office,” said Kishombe.

Kishombe further said “we shall institute the district service reform particularly on the punctuality.”

According him “we shall introduce a time book that will be signed by officers who attend their offices around 7:30 am.”

Meanwhile Karonga District Commissioner Rosemary Moyo has also complained about the incompetence of the Director of Administration James Tembo and appealed for council to something.

“Since he was transferred here last year, Tembo has been failing to control his office a development which has affected a lot of things at the council,” said Moyo.

“For instance, when I assigned him a job he always failed to fulfill it than his juniors. On top of that, whenever there is strike by the direct employees he runs out of his office despite being his duty to handle it,” Moyo disclosed.

In his remarks Paramount Chief Kyungu proposed to fire Tembo saying “he is incapable to be with us.”

However, Kishombe ruled to give him a warning before dismissing him.
