LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi’s Central Region 2023 Chipiku Stores Premier Division league champions favourites Kawinga FC have been invited to play a friendly match against MTN FAZ Zambia Super League giants sensational ZANACO Football Club on Saturday, February 3, 2024.
The match is anticipated to take place at David Kaunda Stadium in the Eastern Province City of Chipata.
Zanaco Football Club is in Chipata amidst the break of the 2023-2024 Super League season.
The seven-time Zambia Super League champions are currently in position eight with 27 points and 12 points as draft league leaders ZESCO United.
Provincial Football Association of Zambia Vice Chairperson Patrick Nyirenda revealed that tickets for the Kawinga game are already on sale at their office opposite Motala Pharmacy in the down shops area in Chipata.
Zanaco head coach Wedson Nyirenda says he is using the Chipata camp and friendlies to enhance the team bonding ahead of the second round of the MTN Zambia Super League.
Nyirenda locally known as “Wada Wada” alluded that Chipata is the perfect place for the team to implement imperative tactics with new players in the team and challenge for the Super League.
The team has two Malawian players namely; Chawanangwa Kaonga and Robert “Gomez” Saizi.
Meanwhile, the Kawinga football club is waiting for the Central Region Football Association to finalize match-fixing findings and determination to know their fate either they will play in TNM Super league or not have confirmed to have received the invitation.
Currently, they are waiting for the Malawi government to permit them to travel to the neighbouring country amidst fears of cholera outbreak which has hit hard our neighbor especially the Capital, Lusaka.
Head coach Harry Saidi said, “The match will be a motivation to the players ahead of the forthcoming season. This will also give them a platform to showcase their talent and skills against one of the big clubs in Southern Africa. I am delighted and eager to play Zanaco”.
This will be the second time for Kawinga to play a Zambian outfit, as last year the Area 36-based side also played Kafue Celtic football club at Blue Gym ground in the Capital, Lilongwe.
