NAIROBI-(MaraviPost)-Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Irrigation Mwangi Kiunjuri has been fired by Present Uhuru Kenyatta together with Industrialization CS Amina Mohammed as the president reshuffles his cabinet.
Kenyatta confirmed this in a television state address that took place in Mombasa State House .
As reported by The New York Times, the agriculture CS has been replaced by Peter Munya while Joe Okudo was nominated to fill in for Amina Mohammed in the Sports Ministry
Ukur Yatani who has been acting finance minister since July as been appointed as the new finance minister.
In the changes, President Kenyatta has also nominated former Nyeri Senator Mutahi Kagwe to take over as CS for Health while PS Betty Maina was promoted and nominated to become the new CS for Industrialization.
The President said those who had not received new duties had been fired effectively.
During the address, Uhuru also made a big u-turn and directed that the implementation of new National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) rules be halted with immediate effect for further consultations.
