NAIROBI- (MaraviPost)-A 52-year-old Kenyan man, Wilberforce Saenyi Murunga, has been refunded his dowry from in-laws months after his marriage failed with his ex wife.
The Kenyan Court ordered that three cows, a she-goat and KSh20, 000 must be given back to Murunga after dissolving the marriage with Irine Khasoa.
Murunga reportedly paid KSh50,000, three Ayrshire heifers, one cross Ayrshire bullock, one she-goat, one pair of gumboots and a hat as bride price on April 27, 2019, at his Bungoma home.
The two had lived together for about one year and six months before the ex wife started deserting their matrimonial home on several occasions.
When the marriage failed in 2021, his ex-wife, who’s a lawyer, had told him that she would see to it that the case does not go in his Favour as one way to discourage him from proceeding to court with the case, Monitor reported
However, Murunga disclosed that his determination to see the case to an end kept him going and on October 12, 2021, a Kitale court dissolved the marriage.
The Kitale mediation court also ordered that three cows, a she-goat and KSh20, 000 be given back to Mr Murunga.
Murunga however, disclosed that his in-laws were unable to provide all the animals and money due to the harsh economy.
The animals would be transported to his village home in Chwele, Bungoma for the Balunda clan to confirm.
Mr Murunga who has been living in United States of America is expected to go back in May following the court settlement.
