LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-Malawian youth have been challenged to be agents of change in climate action being championed locally and globaly.
The youths were challenged at the end of the three day National Youth conference on climate change that took place in the capital Lilongwe.
The organizers for the national youth on climate change conference which was taking place in the capital city Lilongwe from 24 to 26 September says that the conference has been successful.
One of the stakeholders that organised the conference Mercy Chirambo, CADECOM’s national livehood programs coordinator said youth should be take the leading role in the fight against climate change.
Chilambo lauded the youth for bringing serious issues that affect them in taking action on climate change.
“We are urging the youths to take action in climate change ” Chirambo said
Echoing on the same, Dominic Nyasulu, National Youth Network on Climate Change (NYNCC) coordinator said that the conference was a successful as it gave youths space to raise issues in climate change action.
“Most of the participants were leaders. We believe that what they have learnt from the conference. They will be able to share and reach out to the others that did not attend the conference, ” he said.
David Samikwa a member from Mwanza’s TIkambe Youth Organization from lauded the conference saying will improve his organisation performance as has he has been empowered.
Under the theme; “Enhancing Youth Leadership and Movement in Tracking Climate Change in Malawi”, the conference that ran from September 24-26, 2019 attraced over 160 from different districts across the country.
