MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-The well renown social-economic activist Charles Kajoloweka says absence of international observers will not have any impact on Malawi’s fresh presidential elections slated for Tuesday, June 23, 2020.
Kajoloweka who is also the executive director of Youth and Society (YAS) was on Sunday, June 21 jointly addressing the news conference in conjunction with Center for human Rights and Rehabilitation (CHRR).
He observed that international observers credibility needs to be looked at again because most of them come as tourists.
“We need to revisit the role of international observers, largely they have been more of tourists other than adding value to the elections,they have been there to rubber-stamp and just to confirm what has been declared. We haven’t seen a true reflection of their observation reports, to be frank their presence couldn’t bring any difference”, said Kajoloweka.
Kajoloweka added the 2019 elections international observers never raised any irregularities that ended polls be nullified.
He therefore urged eligible voters to come out in large numbers to elect insightful leadership to fix social-economic woes Malawi is going through.
