Malawi government impose mandatory use of face masks in govt offices

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Government of Malawi has imposed the mandatory use of facemasks by clients in all government offices as one way of curbing the spread of Coronavirus.

This has been disclosed in statement issued on Thursday July 9 signed by Chief Secretary to government Zanga-zanga Chikhosi.

According to Chikhosi, all clients in government offices will not be served if they’re not wearing face masks and the masks are supposed to cover the mouth and nose throughout and not to be lowered when coughing or sneezing.

Government has reminded to observe all measures that were put in place such as regular hand washing with soap for at least 20 seconds or use of alcohol based sanitizer, social distancing of at least 1.5 meters, no hand shaking.

Government has also asked all those with flue-like symptoms to stay away from government offices and cover the nose and mouth with a bent elbow or a tissue when coughing or sneezing.

Meanwhile, Malawi has a total of 1942 confirmed cases of coronavirus with 25 reported casualties.
