On Saturday, August 8, 2015, Malawi President Peter Mutharika traveled to Mzimba in the Northern Region to join Ngoni brothers and sisters in celebrating this year’s Umthetho Cultural Festival.
The Malawi President said he strongly believes in preservation of culture and its diversity. He says he was very proud to be part of the ceremony this year and he promised that as long as he remains leader of this country, He will always be part of this beautiful event.
“Culture is the rock on which we build development. We can use culture to shape the way we think and do things. This is the duty of every cultural group in this country. Therefore, cultural groupings should teach us the right values that will make us a proud, united and successful nation”; said Peter Mutharika.
The Malawi President said we need culture of patriotism, integrity and a spirit of hard work among our people. These values and pillars of progress must be embraced and be made part of our culture, in all our cultural groupings across the nation.
The Malawi President also said embracing our culture and heritage will support and promote the economic transformation the Malawi government has undertaken becoming a reality for us and our children.
