The MCP supporters are shouting loud “DPP must now hand over the Government is ours dispute the fact that the results are not yet realised. We are the winner”.
The violence is linked to the press briefing that MCP president Dr Lazarus Chakwera made few days ago that him and his party will not condone any defeat this year.

One response to “#Malawi2019Votes: MCP supporters cause violence in Lilongwe City streets”
It boggles the mind that in 2019 we should still not have a foolproof vote counting and vote transmission system for our TPE. Going forward I urge political parties, the CMD, NEST and other electoral CSOs, working with donor partners, to come up with this foolproof system. Firms should bid with their respective systems and the best one should be selected, after running successful pilot field trials. Otherwise elections will continue to be stolen for a long time
