MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Malawian parents whose children go to St. Andrews International Primary School have taken the institution to court for unfair treatment the institution is giving to their children.
According to an order for injunction obtained by some of the parents at High Court in Blantyre, on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, the institution, its servants or agents are being restrained from claiming payments from parents whose children are not accessing online lessons, forcing learners who do not want to access online lessons to do so by deregistering or re-registering them only upon assessment, charging parents to pay fees for online learning equivalent to onsite learning; among other things.
The order has further stated that if the school acts contrary, it will be in contempt of court and it will face the wrath of the law.
Since the closure of schools on 23 March this year due to Covid-19 pandemic, as odered by the President Peter Mutharika, most schools in the country have been offering online lessons to learners as one way of assisting them to access education.
As of June 3, 2020, Malawi had 369 Covid-19 cases with four deaths.
