Caren Chavula: Now new coach for Ntopwa FC

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)—History has been made in Malawi as, for the first time, one of the TNM Super League teams, Ntopwa FC, will from now be under the mentorship of a female coach by the name Caren Chavula.

Chavula has replaced Trevor Kajawa, who is now coaching Mighty Tigers FC.

“Since Trevor Kajawa left last season, we have been moving without the head coach. Her first assignment will be leading the Amaghetto Kids this weekend as we travel to the Northern Region to face Chitipa and Karonga United in the TNM Super league.

“We believe the coming in of Caren will bring confidence to our players as we are still searching for maximum points since the resumption of the top-flight league,” said the club owner Jomo Osman.

Chavula’s coming coincides with the departure of veteran footballer George Nyirenda.

Nyirenda, who has been instrumental and a pillar of the Amagheto Boys’ defence, tendered his resignation on Monday saying “I want to face the new challenge.”

Nyirenda also played for Super League giants Nyasa Big Bullets before going to Zimbabwe where he played for Caps United.

Ntopwa FC finished first round of the top league on position 13 with 14 points, after playing 15 games. They secured four victories, drew twice and lost nine games.
