MCP mourns Jodder Kanjere, Chakwera leads burial on Saturday

The main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has expressed sadness over the demise of its veteran politician Jodder Kanjere who passed away on Tuesday this week upon arrival at the hospital.

 

According to the press statement released on Friday, July 10, 2015 available to the Maravi Post said the late Kanjere collapsed in his office and was pronounced dead on arrival at City Centre Clinic in the capital Lilongwe on July 7, 2015.

 

 

“The Malawi Congress Party wishes to inform the general public of the death of the renowned veteran politician Mr. Jodder Kanjere who died on 7th July, 2015 in Lilongwe. Burial will take place at Nanjiri Farm in Lilongwe on Saturday, 11th July, 2015.

 

“Kanjere, who also contested for the presidency of MCP during the 2013 convention, was a renowned architect and Managing Director for Kanjere and Associates Consortium.

 

“Mr.Kanjere was not an ordinary politician but along serving member of MCP who served in various cabinet portfolios during the late Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda’s rule including Deputy Minister of Works from 1990 to 1992 and also the party’s Deputy Director of Elections and Administrative Secretary in 1997”, reads the press statement.

 

Later the Maravi Post caught up with Eziekiel Ching’oma, MCP’s Deputy Spokesperson who said the party has lost a dedicated member who endured huddles in the party that he will be missed greatly.

 

“MCP has lost one of its dedicated members. Someone, who was with the party all the time. He was with the party through thick and thin. We are to miss his serves greatly”, said Ching’oma.

 

MCP’s President Lazarus Chakwera will lead party mourners during the Kanjere’s burial on Saturday at Nanjiri Farm in the rural Lilongwe.
