BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 launched tax quiz competition for secondary Schools in the country.
The quiz competition intends to strengthen and promote learning and teaching of taxation in the country.
Speaking at the event in Blantyre, MRA commissioner general John Biziwick, stated that MRA wanted to build tax compliant culture in the country.
By teaching kids on the importance of complying to taxes at an early stage and reaching out to different sectors of the economy at a later point.
On his remarks, Assistant Human Resources officer for south west division, Edgar Kapenda applauded MRA for coming up with the initiative as it will go a long way in uplifting the standards of Education in the country.
The competition will run on a pirate project with eight schools each from southern and central regions taking part before the competition spreading out country wide next year.
Winning school will walk away with MK2.5 million and 100,000 each to participating students.
While runners up and 3rd placed will go away with MK1.5 million and MK500,000 respectively, with students receiving MK70,000 and MK50,000 each.
Schools will also receive some learning material and books.
