LILONGWE-(MaraviPost)-The Alliance for Democracy (AFORD)Vice President Timothy Pagonachi Mtambo has issued a strong defense in President Lazarus Chakwera’s administration, urging Malawians to refrain from declaring the government a failure.
Mtambo acknowledged the numerous hardships faced by citizens, but stressed the need to consider the unprecedented challenges confronting the government, without explicitly mentioning the cholera outbreak, Cyclone Freddy, devastating droughts, and the global economic fallout from the Russia-Ukraine war.
He stated that the administration has made significant strides in fulfilling its campaign promises despite these formidable obstacles.
Mtambo’s statement marks a notable shift in the AFORD’s rhetoric concerning the current government.
