Mzuzu central hospital admits five Murburg Virus patients

MZUZU-(MaraviPost)-Mzuzu central hospital has admitted five patients for suspected Murburg Virus Disease after they presented symptoms.

The five patients are all Malawians.

In leaked memo signed by the hospital director says the patients are in stable condition.

Mzuzu Central Hospital publicist Dr Anold Kayira says while some also presented symptoms related to Typhoid and Measles.

Some had blood oozing from the nose, ears and also red eyes which are similar to Marburg symptoms.

Kayira however disclosed samples have been collected and have since been sent to South Africa for tests.

Marburg virus disease is a highly infectious communicable disease that is transmitted among humans through contact with bodily fluids of an infected person, and currently neighbouring Tanzania and Equatorial Guinea have reported cases.
