The country’s peoples team, Nyasa Big Bullets dominated the TNM Super League awards for 2015/2016 season for vehemently retained the title championship and went smiling all the way to the bank to cash MK15 million.
The team’s dominance in these awards it’s a booster to the sponsorship with Nyasa Manufacturing Company (NMC) to the tune of MK500 million for over a five-year period starting on January 1, 2016.
In a colorful ceremony held at Comesa hall on Thursday, January 14, in the commercial city of Blantyre and graced by Minister of Sports Grace Chiume, Football Association of Malawi (Fam) President Water Nyamilandu, George Jana from Malawi National Council of Sports and TNM staff, witnessed Nyasa Bullets outshined the awards with its players Chiukepo Msowoya, Fisher Kondowe, James Chilapondwa and Yamikani Fodya being honored as player of the season, long serving players and best
defender respectively.
Msowoya received MK425, 000 for both top goal scorer and player of the season while, Fodya went home with MK100,000 such that their supporters beat all teams to image the most disciplined to the tune of MK200,000 and also scooped the best team management.
Other awards include;
Most improved player went to Mighty Be Forward Wanderers defender Stanely Sanudi (MK100,000), John Siko of Blue Eagles was voted the best goalkeeper (MK100,000 cheque) while best midfielder went to Nelson Kangunje of Civo (MK100,000) and Jabulani Linje of Be Forward Wonderers was the player of the month of the December.
Team awards;
Blue Eagles was voted the best technical panel, Mafco FC and Mighty Be Forward Wonderers got the most improved teams (MK350, 000 each) while Fair Play teams went to Civo United, Fisd Wizards and Azam Tigers (MK250, 000 each). Mafco FC received MK7 million as the second team, Blue Eagles went home with MK4 million on third place and Mighty Be Forward Wonderers got MK3.5 million.
Referees awards;
Duncan Lengani imaged the best referee (MK100, 000) along side other referees including Bernadette Kwimbiri, Clemence Kanduku and Ishmael Chizinga as the trio went home with MK80,000 each.
Media awards;
In the electronic media; Frank Kandu of MBC was voted the best (MK200,000) seconded by Mike Bango of ZBS (MK120, 000) then Madalitso Phiri of Capital Radio FM (MK80, 000. Best TV presenter went to Peter Fote of Joy TV seconded by Pilirani Kachinziri of Times TV while Lusayo Kanyika of Times TV was the best television cameraman while best commentator went to Patrick Simango of MBC radio seconded by Williams Gondwa of Times Radio.
While on print media, Peter Kanjere of Times Group imaged the best followed by Garry Chirwa of Nation Publication Limited (NPL), then Mphatso Malidadi and Mabvuto Kambuwe both from Times Group sharing the third slot and Bobby Kabango was voted the best photojournalist of NPL while best column went to Joy Ndovi seconded by Garry Chirwa both of them from NPL while best online publication reporter went to Jeromy Kadewere of Nyasatimes.
