Old Mutual aids IIM MK3m for 2023 Lakeshore Conference

BLANTYRE-(MaraviPost)-Old Mutual Malawi on Tuesday, supported the Institute of Insurance in Malawi (IIM) with MK3 million towards its Annual Lake Conference to be held from August 31 to September 2, 2023 in Mangochi.

The company’s pension services general manager, Tawonga Manda, says the conference theme “Building Resilience Through Insurance in Times of Economic Turbulence” speaks volumes of the Institute’s commitment to building and improving the national economy hence the support.

Manda says the support resonates with the company’s philosophy of desiring to impact the communities where it operates.

“As a responsible business, we have consistently demonstrated commitment to contributing to the development of our country. For the past 69 years, we have operated in Malawi as a leading Financial services provider, including insurance; our contribution to growth in various sectors of the economy, including infrastructure, Agriculture, and Education, to mention a few, is immense and self-evident.

“Allow me also to recognize the work and efforts of the Institute of Insurance in Malawi in safeguarding the profession. IIM has always been at the forefront of promoting professionalism, knowledge sharing, and best practices within our industry,” he said.

Manda added, “Our commitment to nurturing the talents of our members and contributing to the advancement of the insurance sector is unwavering. However, we recognize that the journey toward progress requires collaboration, resources, and a shared vision.

“We are glad we have always been part of IIM. Many of our employees are members of this professional body and have benefitted from its programs and initiatives. Our sponsorship today is not merely a financial transaction but a partnership built on mutual respect and shared aspirations”.

He observes further, “It is a collaboration that goes beyond monetary support, encompassing exchanging ideas, expertise, and resources. Through these partnerships, we can drive innovation in insurance practices, expand research horizons, and contribute to the professional development of our members”.
