President Peter Mutharika salutes civil servants in a christmas Message

1 Min Read

Following his national address statement made last Saturday and well received in which the President talked about reforming government, He wanted to make sure the people that will be affected by the said reforms did not despair.

The President said he would like to thank all government ministries, departments and agencies that worked so hard in the last quarter to make government work.

The President continued saying in the coming few weeks, Government will announce an outline of specific targets that each ministry and department will be pursuing in 2015. I encourage you, therefore, to directly interact and/or question the relevant ministry and/or department in line with their mandates.

The President has directed that every fortnight at least one ministry and/or department must present an account for their planned deliverables to the public.
Together, our aim should be to double the economy by 2019 and I am confident that with consolidated actions we will achieve this goal.

The President would like an accountable government that will be open. This will be difficult for many in government who never were forced to account for their actions. Government workers will definetly see what their counter parts in the private sector exprience in their daily lives.
