DEDZA-(MaraviPost)- A 42-year old man in the central district of Dedza, is under police custody for having sex with a dog, an illegal act known as bestiality.

Dedza police station spokesperson Edward Kabango, identified the suspect as Felidayi. He reportedly committed the crime on Tuesday; the crime is contrary to Section 153 of the Malawi Penal Code.

Kabango told The Maravi Post that the suspect was caught in a maize garden as he was having sex with his neighbor’s dog.

The police publicist said people who were passing near the maize field, heard strange sounds from the field, so they went into the garden and caught the man red-handed.

“After interrogation, Felidayi confessed to have committed the crime.

“The suspect will be taken to court soon to answer a charge on bestiality. The criminal act of bestiality carries a maximum sentence of 14 years in jail,” Kabango said.

The suspect Felidayi hails from Chiluzi village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Kasumbu in Dedza district.
