Thyolo. May 29, 2017: President Peter Mutharika on Sunday, asked traditional leaders to promote unity amongst Malawians, in order to develop the country.

The Malawi President said this during the alleviation of Senior Chief Ngolongoliwa (Laelo Costa Juma), to Paramount Chief.

The function was held at Mulhako wa Alhomwe Headquarters at Chonde in Mulanje District, and brought together different traditional leaders across the country.

Mutharika said unity, collaboration, and a hardworking spirit, are important elements of fostering development in the country.

“As chiefs, you have a huge role in ensuring that all Malawians are united. Do not expect the country to develop if Malawians work in divisions. We need to work together, since united we stand and divided we fall,” said Mutharika.
